Located a short walk from Emerald Downs and a few minutes drive from Muckleshoot Casino, the Auburn, Washington hotel caters to both family and business lifestyles while making it feel like home for both.
“This part of town has grown, but I feel like the hotels are just now growing with it,” says Clarion Front Desk Lead Nicole Thissell.
Formerly a Travelodge as well as an Econo Lodge, the three-story building located at 9 16th Street NW now boasts the Clarion Inn logo. Its owner hit the refresh button with a $2.5 million renovation that saw changes to guest rooms, the business center, meeting space and the gym. If it sounds like just about everything received an update, you’re right.
Given its location, this Auburn lodging choice now offers a reprieve from the big city without completely leaving behind its trappings.
“We want to give people that feeling of being like a downtown hotel without being downtown,” Thissell stated. “Coming from Seattle, Auburn gives those ‘you’re not in the city, but you’re still getting city’ feelings. And that’s important, especially when the city’s pretty hectic.”
The first addition you’ll notice when you walk into the property is the new 2,400-square-foot lobby. It’s so glam it almost feels out of place within such an affordable hotel. With numerous TVs, couches, and a bistro and bar, we can picture it as the perfect place to relax when you aren’t ready to turn in for the night. It’s shiny marble and sparkling chandeliers, however, could easily serve as a ritzy backdrop for wedding celebrations, too.
Venture beyond the lobby and you’ll find 93 rooms within the Auburn hotel. There are single-queen, two-queen and accessible rooms. Those in the back face towards Emerald Downs (some even have views of the track) while the rest point towards Mount Rainier.
No matter which accommodation you choose, you’ll find brand-new mattresses, laptop-sized safes, mini-refrigerators, coffee makers, and 45” flat-screen TVs among its amenities.
And, if you’re with us in thinking there’s nothing worse than having to get out of bed in search of a charger, the Auburn Clarion Inn has guests covered with bedside USB ports and electrical outlets.
When hunger rumbles, guests can enjoy a buffet-style continental breakfast in the lobby with unexpected offerings like biscuits and gravy, or order off the menu from the comfy confines of their room throughout the day.
So, if you’re coming in from a long day at the track, stopping through for a night with your family, or just in town for business, the Clarion Inn is hoping to satisfy your needs with their brand-new amenities and hospitable approach.
A nine-minute drive from Muckleshoot Casino, the Auburn Clarion Inn is a smoke- and pet-free accommodation choice. Reservations can be made online or by dialing (253) 833-7171. Clarion is a part of the Choice Hotels family.
